Associate Scientist - Method Development

MicroConstants is looking for an Associate Scientist to join our team. The incumbent will be responsible for developing analytical methods and performing routine analyses and tests on biological samples independently. The work requires use of scientific methods, procedures, and techniques gained through training and/or previous experience in accordance with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).

Responsibilities will include:
  • Developing analytical methods using LC/MS/MS, HPLC, or ELISA to determine the concentrations of drugs and/or metabolites in complex matrices.
  • Identifying new technologies to improve analytical method development.
  • Performing sample analysis by ways of liquid-liquid extractions, acid-base, solid phase extraction, and ELISA procedures, followed by separation and detection on LC/MS/MS or HPLC systems.
  • Performing method validations and report writing for the determination of pharmaceuticals in biological fluids.
  • Operating basic laboratory equipment.
  • Maintaining and making minor adjustments to equipment, e.g. calibrating, alignment, and maintaining accurate data records.
  • Being familiar with mass spectrometry theories.
  • Having knowledge of derivatization.
  • Creating methods according to MicroConstants SOPs.
  • Preparing reagents for everyday use in the laboratory and performing routine inventory of laboratory chemicals, receiving laboratory supplies, and storing appropriately.
  • Using universal safety precautions to protect self and co-workers from biohazardous materials, including blood-borne pathogens.
  • Assisting with special projects as assigned by the Laboratory Director.

Requirements include:
  • BA/BS in Chemistry, BioChemistry, Biology, or related science + 8 years of experience, or a MS + 5 years of experience.

Internship Opportunities

MicroConstants participates in internship programs through local colleges and universities. We also participate, when appropriate, in special employment programs, summer jobs for youth, and work-study programs for students. We offer some paid internships and flexible work schedules.
