MicroConstants Welcomes Our New Immunology Manager
Last week, we announced the appointment of Lilin Wang as the new manager of our Immunology Department. Lilin brings to MicroConstants more than 18 years of experience developing immunological and molecular assays to support preclinical and clinical drug development studies. His expertise will enable us to provide additional contract research services to pharmaceutical and biotech companies developing large molecule drugs and other biologics.
Read the press release for more details.
As a CRO, our clients often turn to us to provide them with advice and guidance on their projects based upon our scientific expertise. Read the case studies below for examples of ways our expertise and proactive problem solving have helped advance our clients’ drug development programs:
- Case Study 1: Development of a Non-Traditional Internal Standard
- Case Study 2: Selective Extraction in Method Development
- Case Study 3: Customizing Specimen Collection Kits for Specific Clinical Trial Sampling Requirements
Hepatocyte Users Workshop by Celsis
On September 27th, MicroConstants will be hosting a hepatocyte users workshop at our facility instructed by Celsis In Vitro Technologies. The workshop is designed for industry professionals seeking to improve hepatocyte handling skills and increase their knowledge of these useful in vitro metabolism tools.
Applied Pharmaceutical Analysis Meeting & Poster Presentation
In September, we will be a sponsor at the Applied Pharmaceutical Analysis Meeting in Cambridge, Massachusetts. This year’s theme is Smaller & Smarter: Rising up to Meet Quantitative & Qualitative Bioanalytical Challengesand the sessions will cover topics in the areas of Regulated Bioanalysis, Discovery Bioanalysis, and Biotransformation.
In addition to exhibiting, MicroConstants will be presenting a poster on A Novel Approach to Internal Standardization in LC/MS/MS Analysis; Sensitive LC/MS/MS Analysis of Gentamicin during Tuesday night’s cocktail reception.
If you plan to attend the meeting, please visit our booth and say hello.
CYP Inhibition and Induction Assays
One of the concerns of developing new pharmaceutical candidates is how the compound will interact with co-administered medications. These drug-drug interactions result in different pharmacokinetic profiles and may lead to an adverse event or loss of efficacy for either the candidate or the marketed medicine.
MicroConstants offers a range of services to evaluate the potential for drug-drug interactions. Cytochrome P450 inhibition assays determine the ability of the test article to inhibit the clearance of other compounds. Induction assays assess whether the test article can increase the production of metabolizing enzymes or transporters involved in the distribution and clearance of all administered medicines. Reaction phenotyping, or enzyme mapping, studies predict which cytochrome P450 enzymes may be critically important for the proper clearance of the test article.
